Koki Tanaka received his B.F.A degree from Tokyo Zokei University in 2000.

Tanaka is a mixed-media artist who uses video and found objects to create iconic reflections of everyday life. He integrates everyday life into an art practice that combines humor with social criticism. During his stay at Location One, the artist plans to investigate technical aspects of Hollywood films and the history of video art in relation to contemporary art criticism.

Recent exhibitions include: Contemporary Art Center in Mito, Japan; Institut fur Gegenwartskunst an der Akademie des Bildenden Kunste, Vienna, Austria; MIT List Visual Art Center in Massachusetts. In 2001, Tanaka was invited to participate in the Saison Art Program exhibition in Tokyo and in the third Bangkok Experimental Film Festival.
Tanaka’s residency at Location One is supported by the Asian Cultural Council.
