Drawing constitutes Luis Nobre’s priviledged medium both in terms of representation and probing of the world through the overlapping of layers and resulting vibrations that arise from the tensions of the line. In a world that is fragmented, the artist’s use of line as a sociological and historic memento of nature creates ‘cinematographic travellings and geographic narratives’ investigating ideas of nature, survival and the ‘implications of the empty space’ between the originally observed subject and it’s drawn and displayed rendition. Luis Nobre graduated in 2001 from the Escola Superior de Arte e Design, Caldas da Rainha, Lisbon. Exhibitions include the 5th International Biennial of Sculpture and Drawing, Caldas da Rainha; Sub.864-873, Museu Malhoa, Caldas da Rainha; Between Heaven and Hell, Museum of Natural History, Lisbon; Year of the Dog, Ale and Porter Arts, Bradford, UK; Ohhh Naturel!
